Pastor Bobby L. Giddens
Bobby L. Giddens is an Atlanta Native who grew up in the Grady Homes Housing Project and attended the Atlanta Public Schools where he graduated from David T. Howard High School (C/O 1967.) He went on to graduate from Georgia State University (BBA) Business Administration, Atlanta Law School (JD), Interdenominational Theological Center (Cert. of Theology), and Hennings Mediation & Arbitration Institute (Cert.)
He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Sutton Giddens for 48 years. God blessed them with two daughters, Cicely L. Giddens Adams, married to Jarvis Adams, and LeeAnne Michelle, who passed at the age of 12 years. His two granddaughters, Zoe Michelle and Sky Ariele are two blessings from God that are shining stars from above.
God called him to the pastorate of Silverleaf Baptist Church in February 1982. Pastor Giddens often says that of all the accomplishments and blessings, his greatest joy is derived from being called to Pastor the wonderful members of Silverleaf Baptist Church, his first and only pastorate.
First Lady Jackie Giddens
Jacqueline (Jackie) Sutton Giddens was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia where she attended the Atlanta Public Schools and graduated from David T. Howard High School in 1968. A graduate of Atlanta Area Technical College, DeKalb College and The National Center for Paralegal Training. She also graduated from The Certificate Program of the Interdenominational Theological Center, and has attended Carver Bible College, and Luther Rice Seminary.
She has been a member of the Georgia Association of Ministers’ Wives & Widows since 1999 and serves as Vice President of the Decatur Chapter of Ministers’ Wives & Widows.
As a life-long member of Silverleaf Baptist Church, she has served in most ministry capacities as needed, even occasionally as the church van driver. Presently, she serves as the young ladies’ Sunday School Class Teacher, the Drama Ministry Leader, and aids in planning Women’s Ministry programs.
After long careers with Atlanta Gas Light Company (32 yrs) and DeKalb County Library System (10 yrs), retirement is a blessing from God. First Lady loves God and enjoys the blessings that are her family and granddaughters who have become one of the focal points of life!
